Carl Bechstein Foundation receives German Cultural Promotion Prize (Deutscher Kulturförderpreis)
The Carl Bechstein Foundation receives the German Cultural Promotion Prize 2015, awarded by the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V. and its partners Süddeutsche Zeitung and Handelsblatt.
The Carl Bechstein Foundation, which was only established at the end of 2012, received the award for its project “Pianos for Primary Schools”. Since April 2013, more than 80 elementary schools have received a piano from the charitable foundation free of charge. By the end of the year, the number of schools is to reach 100. “With its project, the Carl Bechstein Foundation enables children to enter the world of music, which they might not be able to do under the current school education system,” stated Prof. Markus Schächter (former director of the ZDF).
