6th Carl Bechstein Competition for children and young people will take place from 1-3 November 2019 in the Kulturstall of Schloss Britz
From November 1 to 3, 2019, the Carl Bechstein Foundation together with the Cultural Foundation Schloss Britz is organizing the 6th Carl Bechstein Competition for children and young people in the Kulturstall of Schloss Britz – this year in the special category “Piano solo – Classical & Jazz”. Prizes to the value of 10,000 euros are awarded.
Although the participants in these very different categories will compete in different scoring groups, they will perform the winners’ concert together. The classics will experience how jazz musicians present their music on stage, and vice versa. Classical music remains classical, jazz remains jazz. But perhaps all of them will emerge from this parallel competition with a slightly different approach. The jury consists of active musicians and music educators who are well versed in both classical music and jazz: The jury is chaired by Prof. Gesa Lücker (Cologne University of Music and Dance). Together with her, Prof. Markus Becker (Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media), Anke Helfrich (Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory Frankfurt), Prof. Björn Lehmann (Berlin University of the Arts) and Alexander Wienand (Paul Hindemith Music School) will select the winners of the competition.
