Tamta Magradze
Beitrag vom3. July 2024

Georgian pianist Tamta Magradze has been awarded a scholarship by the Carl Bechstein Foundation. This one-year scholarship was made possible by a generous donation from Dr. Rainer Braunschweig, whom we would like to thank warmly for his support.
Born in Tbilisi in 1995, Tamta received her first piano lessons at the age of five from her grandmother, who was also a musician. She first studied at the Paliashvili Central Music School for gifted children, earned a bachelor’s degree at the Tbilisi State Conservatory, and a master’s degree with highest honors at the Franz Liszt University of Music. She is currently continuing her studies in Weimar with Professor Gerlinde Otto in a postgraduate program to obtain her concert exam.
Parallel to her studies, Tamta Magradze has won numerous prizes at international competitions in recent years, such as the online audience prize at the LISZT UTRECHT competition (the actual competition was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic), second prize and the Lazar Berman Special Prize at the La Palma D’oro International Piano Competition, and second prize and the Special Prize for the best interpretation of a Romantic work at the Great Piano Masters International Piano Competition (Vladimir Horowitz Edition).
The new scholarship is intended to help Tamta Magradze prepare for further competitions in peace and quiet and to master the difficult transition from studying to a concert career. We wish our new scholarship holder every success!
