Last weekend, the finals of the 18th Maritim Music Competition were held, which is aimed at young singers from Northern German music academies. The Carl Bechstein Foundation once again awarded a special prize of 1,000 euros for the best piano accompaniment, which went to Nikolay Shalamov (27) from the Rostock University of Music and Theatre.
This year, for the 18th time, young singers from universities in northern Germany and their piano accompanists faced a jury of experts at the Maritim Music Competition. With two special prizes for the best piano accompaniment, the competition creates a special incentive for young students of piano classes. As chance would have it, the winner of the special prize worth 1,000 euros, financed by the Carl Bechstein Foundation, Nikolay Shalamov, is the husband of last year’s prize winner, Alina Shalamova. The two pianists have already appeared on concert stages as Duo Shalamov. They achieved one of their greatest successes with the 1st prize of the International ARD Music Competition in Munich in September 2015.
We congratulate Nikolay Shalamov very much!
