Sisters Salome and Paulina Skulkin won the Carl Bechstein Foundation’s special prize worth €2,000 in the four-hand piano category at the 2024 national competition “Jugend musiziert” (Youth Makes Music).
Paulina Skulkin was born in 2013 and Salome Skulkin in 2008. Since 2021, the sisters have been receiving professional piano lessons from Irina Mints in their hometown of Friedberg. Since then, they have been hooked and enthusiastically play in competitions. Both won solo prizes at the regional and national competitions of “Jugend musiziert” (Youth Makes Music), and Paulina also won an incentive prize at the Bach Competition in Köthen in 2023, as well as a special prize for the best interpretation of a work composed after 1970. In 2024, the sisters decided to perform together and won not only 25 points in the four-hand piano category at the 2024 national “Jugend musiziert” competition, but also the Carl Bechstein Foundation’s special prize worth 2,000 euros.
