The historic Sophien II cemetery in Mitte was transformed into an atmospheric stage for a summer evening full of culture during Cemetery Night on June 21, 2024. Ron Maxim Huang, who remains connected to the foundation even after his scholarship period, was also in attendance.
The cemetery on Bergstraße is the final resting place of numerous prominent figures, including Carl Bechstein, Johanna Stegen, Walter Kollo, and Carl Mampe. They are honored in a special way during Cemetery Night, with readings, musical performances, workshops, and theatrical performances taking place at selected gravesites. Ron Maxim Huang was supposed to play directly at the grave, as he did in 2016 for the handover of Carl Bechstein’s restored grave. Due to continuous rain and a storm warning, the short concert was then moved to the cemetery chapel. There were enthusiastic visitors who even listened in front of the chapel. A great event!
