Board of trustees

The Board of Trustees advises, supports and monitors the Foundation’s Executive Board to comply with the wishes of the founders as effectively as possible. Its members are outstanding specialists with experience in the Foundation’s goal: the promotion of piano music and young musicians.

Christian Höppner is the chairman of the Board. Born in Berlin in 1956, he is a cellist, conductor, music teacher and one of Europe’s leading music managers. He is also secretary general of the German Music Council and holds various honorary positions, including president of the German Cultural Council and vice-president of the European Music Council.

Wolfram Nieradzik is the vice-chairman of the Board. Born in Heidenheim in 1959, he is a lawyer in a Berlin office specialising in insurance law. He is also member of the management of the Funk Group and involved in various organisations and scientific unions in a socio-political capacity.

Theo Geißler (born in Gmund am Tegernsee in 1947) is a music journalist with a lot of experience in promoting young musicians. He is managing director of Con Brio Publishing, chief editor of NMZ and other culture magazines, radio presenter at the Bayerischer Rundfunk and a multi-award-winning author.

Professor Linde Grossmann served as an assistant at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar for several years and has been teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) since 1992. She also teaches at UdK’s Julius Stern Institute, has been head of the Piano Department since November 2015 and is Vice Dean of the Music Department. Linde Grossmann has performed both solo and in various chamber music ensembles, primarily in piano duos, and has published numerous articles about piano playing history and techniques. For many years she has been a member of the presidium of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA), German section.
