In 2016, Wataru Hisasue won the First Prize and the German Pianist Award at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition. The following year, he received Third Prize at the 66th ARD Music Competition and the Special Prize for the best interpretation of a commissioned work by Pascal Dusapin.
He has performed in such famous venues as Berlin’s Konzerthaus, with ensembles such as the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, and participated in numerous festivals, including the 2016 AUDI Music Festival.
He began his studies at the Freiburg University of Music in 2013 under Professor Gilead Mishory, and later moved to the Berlin University of the Arts to study under Pascal Devoyon and Klaus Hellwig.
