Born in Portugal in 1993, Raúl da Costa distinguished himself with First Prizes at the International Piano Competition in San Sebastian, the Scriabin Competition in Paris and the Young Pianist of the North – International Competition in Newcastle. He studied first in Portugal under Álvaro Teixeira Lopes, then in Hanover under Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Bernd Goetzke, and is currently a student of Kirill Gerstein at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin.
Raúl has already performed in major concert halls in Portugal, including the Teatro do Campo Alegre and the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto, as well in the Palacio Nacional da Ajuda in Lisbon.
In 2010, he opened the international Ciclo de Piano series at Porto’s Casa da Música.
