The American Kunal Lahiry – a Britten-Pears Young Artist, Leeds Lieder Young Artist, and Samling Young Artist – is about to become one of the most promising and sought-after pianists of his generation. In 2019, he was selected for the first edition of the SongStudio program directed by Renée Fleming and was awarded the Sam Hutchings Pianist Prize at the Oxford International Summer School under the direction of Malcolm Martineau. The following year, he was invited to the Heidelberg Lied Academy directed by Thomas Hampson. His affinity for song interpretation has already taken him to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Académie Musicale de Villecroze and such famous venues as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Leipzig Opera.
He studied piano under Walter Hautzig, Alan Chow, Kyoko Hashimoto and Fabio Bidini and song composition under Wolfram Rieger at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin.
