The ensemble “lied23” just opened the new Carl Bechstein Hall in Berlin-Spandau. An oasis of culture is now blossoming in the middle of an industrial area.
The foundation has now given more than 220 pianos to elementary schools throughout Germany. In May, another school in Berlin was able to welcome a new instrument.
The piano duos Anna Richter & Taissia Wierer and Dao & Du Wang received special prizes of 500 euros each at the fully digital regional & national competition in Berlin.
In cooperation with the Chamber Music Festival Oberlausitz, our scholarship holders Adele-Marie Schäfer and Wilhelmine Freytag will give a concert at the Oberlichtenau Castle.
Two of our former scholarship holders were guests in the program “Hope@Home” produced by arte and WDR, in which violinist Daniel Hope gave young musicians a stage.
After three quarters of a year of successful cooperation, the foundation’s piano has a permanent place in the everyday school life of the Comenius-Gymnasium.
Due to Corona, our four scholarships were awarded this time in close cooperation with the junior institutes of the German music academies.
The rising infection numbers combined with increasingly restrictive limitations have left us with no other choice: The Carl Bechstein Competition must unfortunately be cancelled this year.
